William John (Bill) Hepplewhite

William (Bill) John Hepplewhite March 18, 1913 - August 4, 2014

On the afternoon of August 4, 2014 our Dad (Pop) peacefully passed away in his 101st year. He went to join his beloved Irene, who died in January 1983. He will be deeply missed by his family,

Roger (Shirley) of Coquitlam,

Barbara (Neil) Sterritt of 150 Mile House,

Teri Hepplewhite of Langley,

grandsons

Gordon (Cici), Williams Lake & Jamie Sterritt, Kamloops,

Chad (Tina), Jeff (Trina) & Jeremy Spurgeon, Langley

granddaughter

Kim (Nathan) Kruljac, Surrey,

as well as his 10 great-grandchildren.

Dad came to Canada from Newcastle-on-Tyne, England in 1925 and the family settled in Edmonton. He then moved to Vancouver, following his wife-to-be, Irene.

He worked in the display department at Spencer's Dept. Store for a number of years and continued working there after it was bought out by the T. Eaton Co. After a couple of stints in the army & air force military reserves during WWII, he resumed work at Eaton's rising to the position of Display Manager for Vancouver and Western Canada.

Over the years he and his staff created Eaton's popular feature windows and store displays at the store on Hastings St. where the Christmas and Easter windows in particular were a great hit. He then moved to the new Eaton's Store on Granville St. before retiring. He was also involved in designing & building many floats with his brothers Matt & Frank, for the PNE, Grey Cup and other Vancouver parades.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at Magnolia Gardens in Langley, BC for their care and support of our Dad/Pop during the last 5 years of his life.

No service by request and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

We love you and miss you Dad/Pop
